Painting depicting the wedding of Cana as set in an African village. The villagers, from children to the elderly, surround the bride and groom and are engaged in merrymaking: eating, drinking, laughing, playing musical instruments. Jesus is in red, his back to the viewer, stands next to several large and empty water jars. The mother of Jesus is in blue and faces the viewer, hands upturned with an expression on her face that lets the viewer know she is telling Jesus there is no more wine.
